At Nassagaweya, we put a high priority on developing and growing deeper in community. No matter how long some of us have been at Nassagaweya, we were all new once. That’s why we want to make it as easy as possible for you to come out and get involved to whatever degree you’re comfortable.

There are a variety of groups, activities and events that you can get involved with.

Groups for Children and Youth

Fusion......................... “Bringing kids and God together!” Fusion is the name of our Sunday morning children’s programme. Every Sunday morning during the worship service, children aged 0-13 have the option of joining in with Fusion. Using stories, games, crafts and other fun activities, Fusion provides an engaging and age-appropriate environment for children to connect with Jesus and experience the love of God. Children from birth-12 are invited to join in with Fusion after a special children’s time during the worship service. Contact us for further information.

Kids on the Hill............ An after-school club programme for children aged 4-8 and 9-12 (KG - grade 3, and grade 4-7). There are games, songs, stories, crafts, snacks, friends, and lots of FUN! The programme runs Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5:15 in October and November, and again from January to April. Please note this group is currently not running and will start again September, 2013. Ghiti............................. Pronounced “fish” (as in lauGHter and devoTIon), Ghiti is a group for 12-18 year olds (grades 8 and up) who want to laugh, play, chat, hang out, eat, and learn about God and His Son, Jesus.

Groups for Adults

Community Groups..... While Sunday worship is a vital expression of the community of God, it can only go so far in helping people develop a deep and true sense of community with one another. Using the Bible, readings from other Christian books, as well as prayer and just some plain old socializing, our Community Groups are aimed at providing an environment that will foster and facilitate a growing relationship with God and with one another. Contact us for more information.

Women’s Association.. A group for women of all ages meeting at the church on the third Wednesday of every month (except July, August, and December) for Bible study, worship, and fellowship. Contact the president of the W.A. for further information.

Quilting........................ Are you a quilter? Would you like to learn? Then join our quilting group. We meet at the church on a drop-in basis every Wednesday between 9:00am and 4:30pm, with a coffee break at 9:30am and lunch at noon (bring a bag lunch!). Come for an hour or stay all day, whatever you like! Contact us for more information.

Coffee Time................. The quilters’ coffee break at 9:30am on Wednesday mornings is open to everyone. We always have a good group of people drop in for their coffee and community fix for the day, and we’d love to have you join us too. Toys are available for little ones, so feel free to bring you kids along!

Men’s Breakfast........... No agenda, just breakfast, with plenty of conversation and laughs in the process. We usually meet at the Mohawk Inn at 8am on the first Saturday of the month. Call or email us if you want to confirm the date and location.

Yearly Events

Chicken BBQ............... First Saturday of June. A half chicken, baked potatoes, coleslaw, rolls, and homemade pie for $15. Light entertainment also provided. Call (905) 854-1055 or email us for tickets.

Anniversary Service.... First or second Sunday of June (i.e. the day after the Chicken BBQ; see What’s On closer to the date for details). Special service of celebration for the long life and continuing ministry of our church. Guest speaker. Light lunch to follow. Everyone welcome! In 2011 we are celebrating 175 years of ministry here in Nassagaweya. See our Anniversary page for special events.

VBS.............................. Second week of July, daily from 9:00am-12:00 noon. VBS stands for Vacation Bible School. There are games, songs, crafts, stories, and fun, fun, fun for children aged 4-11. Contact us for further information, or visit www.vbs.nassagaweya.com.

Community breakfast.. The first Sunday after Labour Day from 9-11:30am. We wanted to put the “service” back into “worship service,” so we decided to serve up a free breakfast for anyone and everyone who wants it. There are games and activities for the kids and a short programme for the adults. Absolutely everyone is welcome!

Bazaar......................... The first Saturday in November from 11am-2pm. There are crafts, a silent auction, lunch, baked goods, and the winning ticket in the annual quilt raffle is drawn. Please join us.
