Our theme for Advent this year is “Light in the Darkness”. Christmas is a season of lights. We see lights on trees and lights on houses. It is also a season of darkness. As the days get shorter and shorter, we remember that Christ is the light of the world giving us hope, peace, joy and love to light our way.
Below is a calendar of events and activities for this Advent at Nassagaweya Presbyterian Church. We hope they will help you celebrate this special season and prepare yourself for Christmas.
Calendar of Events
Jesse Tree Kit
NPC is providing any family who would like, a Jess Tree kit for Advent. A Jesse tree is like an advent calendar but instead of opening a little door each day, you get to create a Christmas ornament to hang on your Jesse Tree. With each ornament is a story to read from the Bible and a short devotion. Make it part of your family dinner time or do it before bed. This year’s devotional comes from “The Crazy Kids Bible Devotional”. It includes a devotion, blog post, podcast and a pdf ornament you can print. Jesse Trees and a hard copy of the devotion can be picked up at the church on December 1st.
November 29, 30 and December 1 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm – On the way to Bethlehem
The Milton-area churches are hosting a live nativity at Country Heritage Park. Come for a guided tour through the story of Christmas.
The Giving Tree
This year, Nassagaweya has put up a “Giving Tree” in the sanctuary and is inviting everyone to give a special gift this Christmas. It’s easy!
Step 1: Prayerfully consider making a special gift this Christmas.
Step 2: Review the “Gifts of Change” catalogue either at the church or online.
Step 3: Pick out an ornament at church, write the name of the project and the amount of the gift on the back and place the ornament on the Giving Tree.
Step 4: Make your donation by writing the project # on your offering envelope and the amount or make a donation online, by phone or mail directly to the national office. (www.presbyterian.ca)
Step 5: At the end of Advent, celebrate with NPC the change we have all helped make possible!
