Due to the pandemic, Advent and Christmas will be quite different this year. But now, more than ever, we need the gifts of Advent: hope, peace, joy and love. So even though we will not be meeting in person this year to celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ, there are still meaningful ways that we can observe this holy time of the year. We hope that some of the following events/activities will be a blessing to you and your family.
November 29 @ 10:00 am – Guelph Line Co-operative Parish Worship Service
We begin advent by worshipping together with our brothers and sisters in Christ along the Guelph Line. Seeing our congregations come together is sure to give you a sense of hope. The service is now posted on our YouTube channel.
December 6, 13 and 20 @ 10:00 am – Sunday Morning Worship
This year, people in the congregation have been asked to share about what gives them hope, peace, joy and love. For our advent services we have incorporated all the responses into a series of short advent videos that we will showcase during our Sunday morning worship services.
Advent 1: What brings you hope? Advent 1: How do you share hope?
Advent Living Rooms
For each week of Advent, there is a virtual Advent Living Room filled with fun ways to celebrate the season. By clicking on the different items in the living room you fill find crafts, music, stories and more. The link to the first Living Room is below.
Gifts of Change
This year you are invited to make a special gift to support the work of Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D). It’s easy!
Step 1: Prayerfully consider making a special gift this Christmas.
Step 2: Review the online Gifts_of_Change_2020-2021 catalogue.
Step 3: Print an ornament (or pick one up from the church) and write the name of the project on the back and place it on your Christmas tree.
Step 4: Make your donation by mailing or dropping off your donation at the church. Be sure to write the project # on your donation. Or you can make a donation online, by phone or mail directly to the national office. (www.presbyterian.ca)
Step 5 (optional): Take a picture of yourself with your ornament send it to email@example.com and we will post all of the pictures together on our facebook page on Christmas morning.
This year we will again be sponsoring a family in need connected to the Race Track Chaplaincy. Donations for this family can be made by dropping items off at the church or by connecting with Olive Mont (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Sunday, Dec. 13 @ 7:00 pm – St. David’s Comfort and Joy Service
The Christmas season can be very difficult for those who are experiencing grief. This special service hosted by St. David’s Presbyterian in Campbellville is for anyone who needs a place where others understand what you are going through. Our hope is that you will find hope in this service offered especially for you. This year’s service will be hosted online using Zoom. We hope you can drive by our nativity display that weekend.
