This fall’s Sunday School program is online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will be delivered leaflets for the term and teaching videos will be posted on NPC’s YouTube channel. Each week we will upload a new story and teaching video related to the leaflet. If you’d like to participate in the program or if you have any questions, email email@example.com.
NPC has implemented a new health and safety policy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Click to read more about how we are keeping our congregation safe this fall.
Since we are unable to do our traditional Blessing of the Backpacks this year in our sanctuary, we’ve decided to have a drive-thru blessing on Sunday, September 13 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Just drop by anytime during the hour and we will say a little blessing for each kid before they begin this unusual school year. The Sunday School teachers will also be giving out a goody bag and a blessing tag for the children’s backpacks, lunch bags or (if they are doing virtual school) laptops.
September is almost here and many folks are wondering when the church building might be reopening for Sunday worship and other events. Throughout August, the Session has been putting together a reopening plan for when that time comes. The plan follows the best advice and guidance from the province and the denomination. We are currently in the process of setting up and testing some of our new protocols for worship. Once a final review of the plan is complete, we will release it to the congregation.
As for a reopening date, the Session will be waiting to see the impact that schools reopening will have on the number of COVID cases in Ontario. Many health officials also warn about a second wave this fall. It would be very discouraging for all if we were to open up the church only to have the government close us down again a couple weeks later. In light of these things, we have no concrete date for when we will begin regular Sunday worship or when the hall will be made available for groups to use. However, when the time does come to reopen the church, we want the congregation to know we will be prepared to open safely.
In the meantime, we will continue to use the Zoom app for our worship services and other regular events like coffee hour, Bible study, meetings and prayer time. Our Sunday School teachers are putting together a remote program for the fall and we will also begin to collect items for our local food bank once a month. Some onsite events are in the works like a drive-thru Chicken BBQ on Saturday, September 26 and more details about these will be coming shortly.
These are challenging times for churches and so we thank you for your support, your prayers and your perseverance. If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to call (905-749-3993) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
